- 'Stop the Press' - Money Programme
This report was on the decline of the newspaper industry. I gave out photocopies of typed notes on the programme. We then split into pairs and researched areas such as: circulation; Murdoch's Paywall; technological changes affecting newspapers; and new platforms (e.g. iPad). This research is available from me in electronic format.
2. 'Tomorrow's TV' - Money Programme
This report examined the success of the UK television industry in exporting programme formats and we saw how production companies such as Fremantle Media, BBC and Granada are now making programmes overseas. We also saw the challenges facing television in the digital age where there is increasing audience fragmentation. Use the notes we made in class to revise.
3. 'Title Fight' - Money Programme
This report showed how the digital age is transforming the way we read and purchase books. The issue of range and choice was a key discussion point and led us into an introduction to The Long Tail. Amazon is a trader that is very useful to consider when examining the book industry and The Long Tail. Use your typed notes to revise.
